This week’s song is originally a Russian piece composed by Boris Fomin and was first recorded in 1925. It was later performed with English lyrics by Mary Hopkins in 1968 with the title of “Those Were the Days”.
Though this is an upbeat and fun song, but it has a touch of sadness to it when reflecting back on the days that are forever gone.
Having turned 40 years old this past April, I am starting to appreciate this song more.
Those were the days my friend. Mehran Kohansal, this one is for you.
